After your Xcel energy audit

What to do with the report: the order to do the work in, who to call for insulation, and who prices the heat pump and water heater.

The report lists what the technician found and what to fix. The recommendations fall into two groups: the shell of the house (air sealing and insulation) and the equipment (heating, cooling and water heating).

Enroll before you sign anything

Enroll in Whole Home Efficiency first. Xcel wants the audit done and the enrollment in before any upgrade starts.

Do the shell first

Air sealing and insulation cut the heat the house loses, so a heat pump sized afterward can be smaller. Xcel pays $600 for this order when insulation and air sealing are invoiced before a rebated heat pump, within two years of each other.

Who does the work

  • Air sealing and insulation: contractors on Xcel's Whole Home Efficiency list. We don't do this work. Your CLEAResult energy advisor can review the bids with you at 303-446-7910.
  • Heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and furnaces: our work. The contractor that does our installs is on Xcel's Whole Home Efficiency list, so the job can count toward your three. A heat pump and a gas furnace put in as one job count as one upgrade until Xcel says otherwise.

Sending us the report

Upload the report, or photos of its pages, with photos of your furnace, water heater and electrical panel. We send back a price for the heat pump and water heater work it recommends, with Xcel's rebates taken off. Then we confirm the equipment in person.

Common questions

Does sending you my report enroll me in anything?

No. It gets you a price. Enrolling in Whole Home Efficiency is a separate form on Xcel's site.
